Hussein Nassereddine creates installations, writings, videos, and performances that excavate questions of memory, time, and transmission. His practice is grounded in collective histories, poetry, ruins and construction, and singing, intertwining narratives from his ancestral village in southern Lebanon.
A new iteration of the Years of the Shining Face series, which examines the golden age of Arab pop concerts and televised performances, Time Objects focuses on prominent props and set designs of that era. The set includes three sculptures inspired by television programs: A replica of the Lady of Uruk-or Mask of Warka, dating from 3100 BCE, possibly representing Inanna, the Mesopotamian deity of love, war, and renewal -altered as if stemming from a distant future; a gate-like structure, suggesting a threshold to the unseen; and a cylindrical form emerging from the world of televised song.
