I Invite Waves To Come
2017 - Installation | Salt
                Various dimensions
An installation of building bricks made out of salt, situated on the main dry river bed of Jezzine, South Lebanon. "I invite Waves to Come" deals with notions that are embedded in the locale's history defined by its day-to-day life: fragility, building on unstable grounds, erosion, and destruction.

The work explores the river as a state of constant flux, highlighted by the absence of the water that constitutes it. "I invite Waves to Come" studies water through its cycle of elements, reflecting on its destructive ability to change the material's form.

Pillar structures placed in different locations along Jezzine’s riverbed. They are made out of salt, a component derived from water that is subjected to change due to climate factors such as heat, humidity, floods, rain, winds as well as animal and insect interventions. The brick structures, situated at different heights and in multiple locations embody a process of natural decay. They remain exposed to natural imprinting until collapsing and dissolving entirely into the river.

A site specific installation. Part of the 2017 BeMA residency / Jezzine.
